I was a vacuum salesmen for one year- and yes I sold vacuums to people who did not need vacuums, could have spent less for a good vacuum and may have compromised their credit by financing one of these vacuums.
I am not proud of my actions- I was broke and trying to get ahead, I was sold on moving up to manager where the six digit money was and I was focused on the “goal”.
How many vacuums I could sell in one month determined my bonuses, my prizes and my take home pay.
I was compromised by the culture within the vacuum selling industry.

The carpet cleaning culture is an in your face lying cheating culture of foot-in-the-door coupons and up-sales. Up-sale after up-sale after up-sale!
The marketing is profuse. I hate to say it, but most carpet cleaning customers are not very bright when it comes to picking their carpet cleaning “professional”.
Three Rooms for $89! Do people really believe you can get a $15 car wash for $4? Yes. Yes they really do.
I WILL NOT PLAY THIS GAME. . . and therefore I cannot compete with their heavily funded marketing campaigns. A good Carpet cleaner is no longer chosen for his or her work- if they ever where, but for his or her good marketing.

- And Up-Sale
But an honest carpet cleaner wants you to call them back; it’s how they roll. . . “every job big or small – do it right – or not at all”,
they can’t help themselves. . . they just have to get that spot out!
Their mothers and fathers taught them how to work/clean when they were young- “the job isn’t done until it’s done right”.
It’s how they are wired- and some of us can be down right anal about it. This is the carpet cleaner you need- but you most likely won’t find him/her through a foot-in-the-door up-sale coupon.
How True Dry Rolls
We need money just like most people these days, but we have managed our business/s in such a way that we do not have to settle for just any ol’ customer that can fog a mirror.
We have removed the need to make all our money in the “carpet cleaning season” so we can stock up and make it through the Winter. We are content to make a good wage for the day.
Because we do not plan on becoming rich from carpet cleaning- we can take the time to do a great job without having to rush to the next 4-6 jobs.

Relax, we make good money- we just don’t make CRAZY money!

We appreciate your business, but we will not become vacuum salesmen to get your business.
We are the best because we have the time to do the best work. Carpet cleaning is a dirty business and cleaning takes time.
We have the time it takes to clean your carpet and that make us the best by default.
Wet carpets are left by cleaners that are in a hurry and really do not care if they ever see us again.
These wam-bam cleaners will always be able to fall back on their coupons and there will always be coupon shoppers that call them.
The sad truth is. . . they charge more when they can charge more and they are in a real big hurry when they can’t.
Don’t do me any favors, it cost too much.
